Unveiling the Secrets of the World's Oldest Living Vertebrate
We focus on understanding the biology of aging, with a particular emphasis on the the oldest living vertebrate, the Greenland shark and other elasmobranchs. Using an omics-driven approach, we explore the molecular and genetic mechanisms that contribute to their extraordinary longevity. Our research also investigates enzymatic actions and the factors influencing cardiac longevity in these species, providing insights into the processes that underpin extended lifespans in the marine environment.
